An elite poet in the international spoken word community, Ben Yisrael is an eight-time National Poetry Slam (NPS) competitor, distinguished as a 2005 NPS Finalist, a two-time semi-finalist, and the 2014 NPS Head-to-Head Haiku Champion. His competitive prowess extends to the international stage, where he was recognized as the 17th ranked poet in the world at the 2012 Individual World Poetry Slam.
